Catholic History New York State

Recently, Deacon Bill made a pilgrimage to the birthplace of Catholicism in New York State.  It is called "Shrine of Our Lady of the Martyrs" near Auriesville, New York.

Four canonized saints are associated with this place. On this hallowed ground, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha was born (1656) and three Jesuits were martyred. They are: Saint Isaac Jogues (martyred 1646), Saint Rene Goupil (martyred 1642) and St. John Lalande (martyred 1646).

Most of the following pictures are self explanatory.  You are encouraged to visit the Shrine for yourself and pray in this holy, restful shrine. Meanwhile, visit their Facebook page - Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs
